A Message from Principal Liang-Aguirre
|
January 8, 2010
Dear
Oyster-Adams Community:
Welcome
back! I hope you had a restful and peaceful holiday season and have started
2010 with a bang. Our first week back
has been a busy one and we are already at full pace as we slide into the last
remaining weeks of the Second Advisory.
January
already brings about the planning for the next school year. This mon the LSRT and I will be developing the school
budget for 2010-2011.
January
25th is FLIP DAY! This is the
first day of the second semester where our Kinder-5th schedules turn
on their heads and make a complete FLIP.
Students who have been starting their day in Spanish will start the
morning in English and those who have been starting in English will now begin
in Spanish. Look for more information
soon on how we will be FLIPPING with fun.
As
you can see below, the month of January (and really the rest of the year) is
packed with activities and programs. We
look forward to your participation and thank you for your ongoing support.
All the best,
Monica
Liang Aguirre

Self-Defense for Women at Oyster Adams. A first-ever self-defense demo
for women will take place 12:30pm - 1:30 pm on Saturday January 30th at the
Oyster Adams Primary Campus! Ladies, if
you have ever thought of or wanted to know self-defense this is your
opportunity to participate in high-quality experience that will empower you
with new knowledge and self-defense skills. What makes this program unique is
that it is taught by DC police officers! Real-life crime scenarios will be
demonstrated along with real-life self-defense tactics in a one-hour session.
The demo is meant only to introduce the basic principles of self-defense and to
increase awareness, absolutely free! There will be six two-hour Saturday
sessions beginning in February for those interested in taking their
self-defense skills to the next level. All classes will be offered at a minimal
cost at the Primary Campus. Brochures on the "Critical Incident
